News coverage about the people and organizations you’re meeting today based on your calendar.
What it does
The Calendar-Based News system searches a business professional’s calendar and delivers relevant, dynamically-updated news about the people and organizations with whom they will be meeting today, automating the task of researching those contacts before meeting with them.
The system searches a user’s calendar for people and company names. After extracting these data, the system searches LinkedIn for information about the person’s current and past employment and education. For company names, the system searches Bing News and Yahoo Finance, looking for the most recent articles with the company’s name in them. The system leverages a person’s company to increase the accuracy of LinkedIn queries. The relevant news and information are then aggregated for presentation to the user without any additional effort by him or her.
